Artist Spends Months Arranging Children’s Building Blocks Into Incredible Architecture

Many of us remember playing with some sort of building blocks growing up. While the plastic LEGO bricks might be the most well-known, Dutch brand KAPLA has been producing chunky wooden planks since the 1960s. Italian artist Raffaele Salvoldi began using this nostalgic childhood activity during the COVID-19 pandemic. This pastime quickly blossomed into an ongoing project titled Wood Arc, in which he constructs enormous towers entirely from KAPLA blocks.

Swiss artist Etienne Krähenbüh has a unique approach to movement, materials, and sound. While many people would discard rusty metal and consider its shelf life to be over, Krähenbüh gives it a second chance and explores its musical qualities through massive kinetic sculptures. Whether rung by someone or moving simply with the air, the motion of his pieces evokes a punctual, organic choreography, like human breathing.

Visitor Accidentally Breaks a Jeff Koons ‘Balloon Dog’ Sculpture Worth $42,000

While most of these incidents don't result in any damage to the art on display, occasionally, accidents do happen. An art fair in Miami experienced the shock of such an event when an art collector unintentionally knocked over a Jeff Koons Balloon Dog sculpture, sending it shattering to the ground.
